Stop brown coal mining in Germany!!

Brown coal mining and burning still takes place in Eastern Germany. The environmental impact is devastating.

To raise awareness a legal petition was filed with local authorities claiming the right for oak trees (Quercus robur) to vote in the German federal election 2025, alternatively, effective state measures to combat climate change and biodiversity loss.

The municipality rejected the proposal. The case is now under review by the Bundestag’s Election Review Committee, under Article 41 of the Basic Law.

Eco Jurisprudence Monitor has published the information about the initiative a couple of days ago, including the complaint which was handed in to the German Bundestag, the national parliament of Germany.

Please share this initiative within your network to stop brown coal mining in Germany. 🍀 Thank you very much for your consideration.
